Samina Faisal Khan, aged 44, founded ForiFix in 2015, providing a range of professional home maintenance services while serving as a role model for women empowerment.
ForiFix services include pest control, painting, heat-proofing, and handyman tasks.
Her journey began with an infestation of bedbugs and termites in a Karachi residence two decades ago, a minor inconvenience that ultimately led to the establishment of a flourishing home maintenance company.
As described by its founder, the business is a modest initiative aimed at empowering women to take charge of decisions within their households.
ForiFix founder, an inspiring role model for women empowerment
Over the years, the company has cultivated a client base primarily composed of women, and according to Samina, has gradually transformed the way many of them engage in household decision-making.
She associates the start of the business with her personal experiences after relocating to Karachi in 2004 for employment.
Originally from a village in the Larkana district, she had spent 13 years in the Middle East before returning to Pakistan to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration.
During her initial years in Karachi, her home was infested by bedbugs and termites.
Living with her mother and five sisters while her father worked overseas, Samina faced difficulties in securing dependable assistance for essential maintenance tasks, a challenge that inspired the creation of ForiFix.
“I initiated this business with no financial investment,” Samina shared.
A period of being bedridden following an accident in 2008 allowed her the opportunity to investigate pest control and home maintenance services, ultimately uncovering what she perceived as a significant gap in the market within Pakistan.
