The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 annual intermediate examinations.
Chairman Ghulam Hussain Lakho confirmed that the first phase of exams will begin on April 29, 2026.
He stated that admit cards for private candidates have already been dispatched to their home addresses. Candidates who have not yet received their admit cards have been advised to visit the board office on April 27 with necessary documents, including fee receipt, registration card, or matriculation mark sheet, to collect them.
The chairman added that all arrangements for Science groups (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) as well as the General Group have been completed. Preparations for Arts (Regular) and Home Economics candidates have also been finalised.
The board has ensured that comprehensive measures are in place to conduct the examinations in a smooth, transparent, and well-organised manner.
Two exam centres blacklisted in Karachi over cheating scandal
Two examination centres were earlier blacklisted after revelations that students were allowed to cheat in exchange for money during matriculation exams.
Following special directives from the provincial minister for universities and boards, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, Ghulam Hussain Sohoo, took strict action against centres compromising exam transparency and blacklisted two private schools.
The action was taken on the instructions of Ismail Rahoo after serious allegations surfaced regarding organised cheating in examination centres.
The education department has also registered a case against corrupt teachers involved in the malpractice, considering the severity of the issue.
According to the Controller of Examinations, a video went viral on social media showing evidence of money being collected from students in exchange for facilitating cheating.
Karachi 9th, 10th students get new directions ahead of exam
Karachi 9th and 10th students were issued new directives as the Karachi Commissioner imposed Section 144 ahead of the upcoming matric exams.
As per details, section 144 has been enforced around all exam centres to prevent cheating and ensure transparency in the examination process.
The notification prohibits gatherings within 200 yards of exam centres from April 7 to May 2, 2026. Unauthorised individuals will not be allowed inside exam premises, and the use of mobile phones and electronic devices is completely banned.
Photocopy machines and the display of weapons are also strictly prohibited. Police have been instructed to take legal action against anyone violating Section 144.
Over 385,000 students are appearing at 530 exam centres across Karachi, with strict security measures in place to ensure fair and smooth conduct of the exams.
