Security, traffic plan announced for Shab-e-Barat

Karachi authorities have declared a complete plan for security and traffic management for Shab-e-Barat which will be celebrated with religious fervor on the night between February 3 and 4.

According to an official statement, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Special Branch and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have been instructed to prepare and submit security review reports.

Authorities have ordered foolproof security arrangements at mosques, Imambargahs, Shrines and graveyards in the city.

Strict security measures will also be taken for religious gatherings where they are held in open areas.

Additional police personnel will be deployed at key religious congregations and graveyards to control crowds and crowd-control barriers will be established in and around mosques, Imambargah and Shrines and cemeteries.

Continuous police patrolling has been ordered to keep a special watch on religious places, including during prayers and late-night activities.

Check posts will be set at entry points at major cities and the patrolling will be further intensified.

Strict checking and search operation of suspicious persons and vehicles has been ordered from Karachi.

The Quick Response Force (QRF) will be kept on high alert to handle any emergency situation.

Local community leaders and volunteers will also help the authorities in crowd management.

Under the National Action Plan monitoring processes will be further accelerated. Authorities have declared tough action on sale of firecrackers, fireworks.

Special traffic preparations have been made in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts to provide for the smooth flow of traffic.

Illegal parking near mosques and graveyards has been totally prohibited. Alternative routes and diversions have been assigned in areas of high traffic levels and emergency vehicles would be given priority passage throughout the night.

Officials have called on the public to cooperate with the law enforcer agencies to make the observance of Shab-e-Barat peaceful and safe.
