The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released latest update regarding the weather in Karachi and Sindh.
As per the weather alert, the westerly weather system will enter in Sindh tomorrow. The system will bring rain in Karachi and the temperature is also expected to go down.
The 8 to 20 millimetres rain will likely begin in the afternoon tomorrow and will continue till the evening.
However, the weather will return to normal from Friday, with cold and 40 and 45 kilometres per hour winds from Quetta are likely to continue in Karachi.
From January 21 (today) to 23, intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.
Additionally, in Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Malakand Division, and the districts of Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan regions as well.
The Met Office further said that from the night of January 21 to January 23, moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Shangla, Kohistan, Swat, Kalam, and in Murree.
Additionally, in the Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli, and Rawalakot regions.
These conditions are expected to increase cold weather and cause travel difficulties in upper areas for tourists and residents alike.
Weather alert
Alerts have been issued to departments such as local government, health, transport, police and Rescue 1122. All local authorities have been advised to set precautionary measures in place to prevent any delays in emergencies.
Rescue 1122 teams will remain on standby in case of any crises with round-the-clock emergency control rooms fully operational.
Tourists and citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to check official guidelines by local authorities.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia instructed Murree authorities, in particular to remain on high alert with facilitation centers operating in different locations to ensure timely assistance.
With the situation being monitored closely, concerned citizens have been advised to contact the PDMA Punjab helpline at 1129.
