The federal government has announced a public holiday for Kashmir Day on February 5, 2026. It will be the first public holiday of 2026.
Kashmir Day is observed by people all across the different provinces of Pakistan as a public holiday every year.
All government, semi government departments, schools, colleges, banks will remain closed on the day.
This day is celebrated in honour of solidarity with the Kashmiri people who have lost their lives in the fight for freedom.
PSX to remain closed
Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) has announced that it will remain closed on Thursday, February 5, 2026, on account of Kashmir Day.
According to a notice issued on Monday, the closure will apply to all TRE Certificate Holders, employees, and concerned parties, as the day has been declared a public holiday by the Government of Pakistan.
Kashmir Day
Kashmir Solidarity Day was established by former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif in the 1990s. He appealed to the country to join the fight for Kashmir’s independence from the Indian army.
The people of Pakistan continue to support Kashmiris in their fight for a separate identity despite no resolution to the Kashmir issue on an international level.
