Starmer in his speech before he announced his resignation, stated that when he inherited the Labour Party, it was bankrupt on all fronts be it moral, financial or political.

When he came into power, people told him time and time again that the Labour Party is now finished and will never be revived. He stated that he proved those people wrong.

He also stated that he ripped the poison of anti-semitism out of the Labour Party and changed it for the better.

He also stated that during his team people were able to trust the economy, defence, and national security of the country again.

According to Starmer, the question his party was asking was whether he was the best candidate to lead his party into the next general election.

He said that he listened to the answer he received from his party and listened to it and accepted it with good grace.

In the end he said that every decision he took he took by putting his country first which he very much loves.
