The government of Pakistan has reduced the price of kerosene oil by Rs2.36 per litre following the decline in petroleum prices.
According to the latest government notification, the new price of kerosene has been set at Rs291.43 per litre, with the revised rate taking effect immediately.
The reduction follows a broader adjustment in petroleum prices announced by the government, which officials say reflects changes in international oil markets and is intended to provide relief to consumers.
Kerosene remains an important source of fuel in many remote, mountainous and colder regions of Pakistan, where access to natural gas is limited. It is also widely used by households and small businesses for cooking and heating.
Analysts say the lower price is expected to ease monthly household expenses for families that rely on kerosene as a primary energy source, particularly in off-grid communities.
The latest cut comes after the government recently revised the prices of other petroleum products, with officials indicating that future fuel prices will continue to depend on global crude oil trends, the exchange rate and domestic fiscal policies.
On the other hand, the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced revised petroleum prices, reducing the prices of both petrol and diesel.
According to the official notification, the price of petrol has been cut by Rs3.19 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs329.82 per litre.
Meanwhile, high-speed diesel has become Rs1.50 per litre, with the new price set at Rs382.36 per litre.
The new prices of petroleum products will take effect on August 7. It should be recalled that the government increased the price of petrol by Rs 4.45 per litre yesterday, while the price of diesel was reduced by Rs 2 per litre.
Under the new daily pricing system, on July 17, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs 5.44 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 31.50 per litre for the next three days.
Following this increase, petrol reached Rs 316.15 per litre, while diesel was priced at Rs 354.35 per litre.
