Web desk: Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan district, on December 15, the ISPR said.
It took place following reports of the presence of khwarij linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to ISPR, troops effectively engaged the terrorist hideout during the operation. After an intense exchange of fire, seven khwarij were killed.
However, during the firefight, Naik Yasir Khan, aged 34 and a resident of District Mardan, embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely.
ISPR described him as a “brave son of the soil” who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, who were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
A sanitisation operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
The statement added that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
