Jordan’s King Abdullah II Visits GIDS, Praises Pakistan’s Defence Capabilities

Web desk: His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) on Sunday, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), along with senior military leadership, received the royal guests.

During the visit, King Abdullah II was briefed on GIDS’ organisational structure, capabilities, and product range. Officials highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in indigenous defence production, ongoing technological innovation, and prospects for enhanced defence cooperation between
Pakistan and Jordan.

The Jordanian monarch later travelled to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was also in attendance. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, joined the distinguished guests at the site.

King Abdullah II and the dignitaries witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise featuring multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated ground manoeuvres, spectrum warfare capabilities, and the employment of multi-purpose drones in diverse configurations.

The Jordanian monarch praised the high standards of training, professionalism, and operational readiness demonstrated by participating troops and aircrews.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on the occasion, reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep respect for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan. He stated that the visit reflected long-standing friendship, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to peace and development.

COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the strong defence ties between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom. Stating Pakistan’s resolve to further enhance military-to-military cooperation and work jointly toward a peaceful and stable region.

Earlier, King Abdullah II conferred upon the COAS the Order of Military Merit of the First Degree in recognition of his contributions to strengthening defence collaboration between Jordan and Pakistan.

King Abdullah II is on a two-day official visit, marking a significant step in reinforcing the historic bonds of brotherhood between the two nations.
