KP CM’s Lahore visit disrupts motorway traffic

KP CM arrives in Lahore

LAHORE: Khyber Pakhtunkhawa’s (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi’s visit to Lahore has caused serious inconvenience to motorway commuters.

Motorway commuters faced major problems due to the Lahore visit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

For security reasons, all traffic was stopped at the M-2 and M-3 interchanges near Pindi Bhattian.

Long queues of vehicles were seen at Pindi Bhattian and commuters remained stranded for hours.

Police had completely closed the Pindi Bhattian motorway interchange.

Similarly as Chief Minister Afridi reached Bhera Service Area all routes leading to Bhera Service Area and the motorway interchange were also closed causing hours of disrupted traffic.

As soon as the convoy of KP CM reached Ravi Toll Plaza, traffic also remained disrupted on both sides of the toll plaza.

Traffic travelling from Peshawar to Lahore was also affected.

Commuters complained that roads were closed without prior notice and they had to remain stuck in traffic for hours.

During the three day visit to Lahore, KP CM is expected to meet PTI parliamentarians at the Punjab Assembly.

The KP chief minister may also visit Kot Lakhpat Jail to meet jailed PTI leaders there.

Several meetings with senior PTI figures are scheduled in Lahore. These talks will review the political situation.

Sohail Afridi is also expected to attend a ceremony at the Lahore High Court.
Sources say a visit to Zaman Park is also under consideration.

Foolproof security in Lahore

The Punjab government has directed the police to provide foolproof security to CM Afridi during his stay in Lahore.

Sources revealed that Lahore Police officially contacted the security team of the chief minister but the complete schedule of his visit has not yet been shared with the city Police.
