Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced a substantial increase in compensation for police martyrs, injured personnel and officers, along with a new financial assistance policy for the families of those who lose their lives in the line of duty.
Under the revised policy, compensation for police personnel from constable to inspector rank has been increased from Rs11 million to Rs17 million. The package for martyred DSPs and ASPs has been raised from Rs16 million to Rs25 million.
The governor said compensation for police officers had also been revised. DSPs will receive Rs10.7 million, while the package for SPs, SSPs and Grade 18 officers has been increased to Rs20 million.
Compensation for senior officers, including DIGs, additional inspectors general, inspectors general of police and officers in Grade 20 or above, has been raised from Rs21 million to Rs35 million.
The revised policy also provides increased financial assistance to personnel injured while performing their duties. Compensation for police personnel who suffer permanent disabilities on duty has been increased from Rs500,000 to Rs5 million. Meanwhile, the package for personnel sustaining serious injuries while on duty has been raised from Rs100,000 to Rs1.5 million.
In another major change, the provincial government has decided to provide cash assistance instead of plots to the families of martyred police personnel, allowing them to purchase homes according to their needs.
Under this arrangement, the families of martyred assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), sub-inspectors (SIs) and inspectors will receive Rs25 million in place of a plot.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the new policy aimed to address the long-standing concerns of police martyrs’ families, ease their financial difficulties and provide better support to personnel who suffer injuries or lose their lives while protecting the public.
The revised compensation packages are intended to strengthen financial assistance for police personnel and their families in recognition of the risks associated with their duties.
