KP govt, Pak Army join hands to tackle terrorism

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Pakistan Army have joined hands to tackle the rising terrorism in the province.

As per details, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday chaired the Provincial Apex Committee meeting and vowed a unified response to eradicate terrorism through collective efforts by the KP government, security forces, and the people.

The high-level civil-military meeting included provincial ministers, Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and other senior civil, military, and law enforcement officials.

The meeting began with a recitation of Fateha and a tribute to martyrs, including civilians, security personnel, and law enforcement officers who lost their lives in recent terror incidents.

Participants reviewed the rising wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the threat posed by Khariji menace and urged for a roadmap to achieve complete peace and stability.

The committee resolved that success against terrorism requires broad consensus and practical coordination among all political parties, public representatives, tribal elders, and the federal government.

CM Afridi stated that the provincial government would spare no sacrifice, mobilising all available resources, including police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and other institutions, to combat the terrorism decisively.

The long-term strategy includes identifying and eliminating the root causes of terrorism, restoring public confidence, and uniting government and citizens to safeguard national security and development.

The KP government’s agenda gives priority to improved governance and public welfare as the foundation for national unity against terror. In the first phase, terrorism-affected areas will be transformed into models of good governance, with full utilisation of government resources to address developmental, social, and economic deprivations.

A structured special package will target these regions, focusing on enhanced security, communications, health, education, employment, basic facilities, and other essential services.

For areas where temporary displacement occurred due to security operations, the government committed to ensuring complete care, rehabilitation, and provision of basic needs during the transition, turning short-term hardships into a foundation for lasting peace, progress, and prosperity.

The honourable and dignified return of displaced persons remains a top priority. “No compromise will be made on peace,” CM Afridi said, adding that the civil government, administration, Pakistan Armed Forces, and all law enforcement agencies stand united on one page and will continue joint efforts.

“This is our collective war, and it can only be won through shared endeavours,” the chief minister said everyone need to stand together in the fight.
