Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Dr Amjad Ali has come under strong public criticism following remarks in which he questioned why terrorist incidents do not occur in Islamabad, Punjab, and Sindh.
Citizens across the country condemned the statement, calling it irresponsible and inappropriate for a senior government official.
Reacting to the remarks, a young citizen said the statement appeared to encourage anti-social elements and indirectly promote terrorism in other provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, and the federal capital.
Another woman stated that terrorism in any form is completely unacceptable and termed the minister’s comments a serious matter for the entire KP cabinet. She added that the people of KP have suffered from insecurity for many years, and instead of resolving these issues, such statements only worsen the situation.
Another citizen commented that the statement reflected the KP government’s failure to maintain law and order in the province, adding that provincial departments were not performing as effectively as those in other parts of the country.
A female respondent also remarked that security in Islamabad has improved significantly compared to KP and some other provinces.
Meanwhile, a hand grenade attack was carried out at the residence of Provincial Minister Dr Amjad Ali in the Shamozai area of Swat.
According to police sources, unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the minister’s house, partially damaging the property. No casualties were reported in the incident. District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Muhammad Umar reached the site soon after the attack.
In a separate incident, an explosive device was detonated outside the office of former PTI Nazim Fida Muhammad in Bannu a few days earlier. The device, planted near the main gate, caused severe damage to his vehicle, which was completely destroyed. However, Fida Muhammad remained unharmed.
