Residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have criticised the PTI-led provincial government, exposing that prolonged mismanagement, corruption and misplaced political priorities have pushed the province towards a crisis.
According to residents, the PTI government’s performance appears to be largely limited to rallies and political demonstrations, while little is visible on the ground in terms of development and public service delivery.
“The PTI’s performance is limited to rallies and processions. Nothing can be seen on the ground,” residents said.
They also criticised the repeated announcements regarding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, saying different dates are frequently given without any clear outcome.
Residents further said that members of the provincial assembly are failing to adequately raise issues related to peace, security and public welfare, instead focusing on political demonstrations and announcing plans to gather at different locations.
They questioned the utilisation of funds allocated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that the province received Rs3,114 billion under the NFC Award and Rs3,774 billion for countering terrorism, yet there has been no significant improvement in the security situation.
“Despite the huge funds allocated to counter terrorism, there has been no reduction in terrorism,” residents said, adding that police personnel still lack adequate weapons and many police stations have not been established or properly equipped.
Residents also said that the share allocated to tribal areas under the NFC Award was not spent on development in those areas.
Criticism was also directed at political interference and corruption in transfers and postings. Residents alleged that transfers are being made in exchange for money and claimed that those who do not pay are denied transfers.
“Even some of their own MPAs allege that Sohail has brought his brother in to facilitate corruption,” residents claimed.
They also called for action against individuals allegedly involved in illegal mining activities in the province.
“It appears that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being run without a government. There is no one to listen to us,” residents said. The public also highlighted persistent challenges in education, healthcare and infrastructure, saying these issues continue to affect ordinary citizens.
However, residents identified law and order and growing insecurity as the province’s biggest challenge, calling for concrete measures to restore peace and improve governance across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
