Another horrific and disgraceful face of corruption, incompetence and looting during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been exposed.
The provincial government has always continued to make a hue and cry that Punjab provides it with less wheat. Under this false propaganda and blackmailing, it continued to obtain more wheat from the federal government and Punjab. However, the reality turned out to be completely opposite.
A surprise raid by the Governor’s Inspection Team on a government wheat warehouse in the Azakhel area of Nowshera has shattered all of PTI’s false claims, as grain was found missing from the warehouses and the sacks were found filled only with soil and sand.
According to sources, the wheat procured for government accounts during PTI’s rule was allegedly smuggled to Afghanistan instead of being kept safe for the national treasury. Meanwhile, the emptied sacks were filled with soil and sand to cover up the missing wheat and manipulate the records.
This shocking revelation at the government warehouse in Azakhel has proved that the people of the province were kept deceived for thirteen years with false complaints about food shortages, while, in reality, a horrific business of smuggling government wheat was allegedly continuing under government patronage.
This timely and strict action by the Governor’s Inspection Team has exposed the dirty nexus between PTI’s administrative incompetence and worst corruption.
These elements, who looted the rightful resources of the people, continued to blackmail institutions for years and forced the poor people of the province to suffer on the streets to obtain flour.
In the current situation, the demand has intensified for an immediate and impartial audit of stock registers, delivery documents, and purchase and sale records of all government warehouses across the province, including Azakhel.
The public has every right to know through what despicable methods the wheat purchased with their tax money was stolen and smuggled through Afghanistan.
The time has now come to bring all those responsible for this criminal negligence, looting of public resources, and falsification of records to justice and deal with them with an iron hand in accordance with the law.
