Flight operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore faced major disruption after 26 domestic and international flights were cancelled.
According to aviation sources, both incoming and outgoing flights were affected due to operational issues, mainly affecting travellers flying between Lahore and several Gulf destinations.
The sudden cancellations resulted in long waiting times and uncertainty for passengers at the airport.
Major flights cancelled
Several international flights were among those cancelled, including services operated by multiple airlines.
Flights affected included:
- AirSial flight PF-796 from Lahore to Abu Dhabi and PF-797 from Abu Dhabi to Lahore
- Airblue flight PA-410 from Lahore to Dubai
- Qatar Airways flights QR-620 from Doha to Lahore and QR-621 from Lahore to Doha
- Etihad Airways flight EY-285 from Lahore to Abu Dhabi
- Emirates flight EK-625 from Lahore to Dubai
- Kuwait Airways flight KU-202 from Lahore to Kuwait City
- Airblue flight PA-412 from Lahore to Sharjah
Passengers face delays
The sudden suspension of these flights left many passengers waiting at the airport for updates regarding alternative travel arrangements.
Airline representatives were seen assisting travellers and informing them about rescheduled flights or possible alternative options.
Officials said that passengers affected by the cancellations will be accommodated on other available flights where possible, but the disruption has created inconvenience for those planning to travel abroad from Lahore.
Emirates shares big update on flight operations
On the other hand, Emirates also issued a major update regarding its flight operations for passengers travelling to and from Pakistan.
In a social media post on its official handle, Emirates confirmed that services have now resumed after earlier disruptions.
In a statement, the Dubai-based airline said that its previous operational update issued earlier in the day is no longer valid and has been removed to avoid confusion.
The airline confirmed that flight operations have resumed, and passengers with confirmed bookings on afternoon flights are advised to proceed to the airport as scheduled.
This also includes travellers transiting through Dubai, provided that their connecting flights are operating.
Emirates advised customers to check the latest flight schedules and availability before travelling, as operations may continue to be adjusted depending on the situation.
The airline added that it is closely monitoring developments and will update its operational schedule accordingly.
