Lahore Basant 2026 notification challenged

LAHORE: The official notification of Basant festival 2026 in Lahore has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

As per details, the petition filed in Lahore High Court challenged a notification issued by the deputy commissioner (DC) Lahore giving a green signal for the Basant festival next month.

Advocate Azhar Siddique stated in his petition that the festival will raise safety concerns in the city, saying that the recent incidents of kite strings have resulted in serious injuries to a child and a young man and even death in some cases.

He urged the court to dismiss the notification issued by the DC for Basant 2026 and suspend it until a final decision is made in this regard.
