The Lahore Board has decided to introduce a digital result card system for Matric and Intermediate students.
According to details, digital result cards will be issued starting with the 2026 annual examination results. Both regular and private candidates will receive their result cards in PDF format.
Regular students will be able to obtain their digital result cards through their educational institutions’ online portals, while private candidates will be able to download their result cards directly from the Lahore Board’s online portal.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the digital result cards will include QR codes and other security features to ensure authenticity. He added that the digital result card will have the same legal status as the original result card.
The digital result cards will be accepted for admissions, employment, scholarships, verification, and equivalence purposes.
The education minister also directed educational institutions to print the digital result cards on 100-gram colour paper and distribute them to students. He instructed all institutions to accept the digital result cards without objection for all official and academic purposes.
Punjab schools to open on alternate Saturdays
In a separate development, the Punjab government has announced, according to reports on Friday, that it may review the school academic calendar after private schools objected to the long summer vacations in the province.
The Education Minister of Punjab, Rana Sikandar Hayat, while speaking to a private TV channel, said that long holidays negatively affect students’ education. He agreed with the concerns that had been raised by private schools.
He said that the government is considering a proposal to open schools on alternate Saturdays after the summer vacations.
Further, the minister added that the new academic calendar will be prepared after consultation with private schools.
He also said that an alternative plan will be made in case schools have to close suddenly due to any situation.
The minister said that the Friday holiday also caused a loss in studies. According to him, schools should remain open for 180 days in a year, but at present, they are functioning for only around 140 days.
