Lahore Rain Today

The capital of Punjab, Lahore, witnesses mild rain today as the weather gets pleasant across the city. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says the city is likely to see light rainfall today and tomorrow, along with heavy winds and possible thunderstorms later tonight.

Humidity levels in Lahore remain 58 per cent, while temperatures are expected to stay between 5 degree celsius and 8 degree celsius over the next three days. The PMD warns that heavier showers could hit some areas, which may further lower temperatures and reduce visibility.

Rain and thunderstorms are also forecast across much of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh. Upper districts could see hail during stronger spells.

Islamabad and northern areas on alert

It is also raining heavily in the twin cities: Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Cloudy conditions have spread across Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where light snowfall has begun on higher mountain peaks. Cold weather has intensified in several local areas.

While it is snowfalling in Nathia Gali, Abbottabad, Murree and Galiyat. The PMD has issued a high alert for the next 24 to 48 hours, warning that a new weather system could bring heavy rain, thunderstorms and snowfall to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.

Snowfall risks and travel advisory

According to the PMD, heavy snowfall on January 22 and 23 could make roads slippery and disrupt travel in areas including Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Chitral, Murree, Galiyat, Skardu and Hunza. There is also a risk of flooding in local streams and landslides in hilly regions.
