LESCO has introduced a plan to avoid load shedding during the monsoon rains.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has stepped up work on upgrading parts of Lahore’s electricity distribution network as it prepares for the upcoming monsoon season.

According to company officials, insulated conductors are being installed in several areas, including Jail Road, Lawrence Road, Shadman and nearby neighbourhoods.

The project is being carried out at a cost of several million rupees.

Officials said the upgrades are intended to reduce power outages and technical faults that often occur during periods of heavy rain.

Unlike conventional overhead lines, insulated conductors can continue operating safely if tree branches come into contact with them.

Lesco officials said that the system is expected to lower the risk of short circuits and unnecessary tripping during adverse weather conditions.

The company’s construction teams have already begun laying the new power lines under updated technical standards as part of efforts to improve the reliability of the electricity supply.

Lesco officials added that the work is aimed at minimising disruptions for consumers and helping maintain a more stable power supply during the monsoon months, when rainfall often places additional pressure on the distribution network.
