Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, met Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, at Air Headquarters on Monday. Senior military officials from Pakistan and Libya held talks in Islamabad, focusing on regional security and closer defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting covered issues of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and ways to strengthen military ties.
Focus on security and training
During the meeting, the Air Chief spoke about the Pakistan Air Force’s operational readiness and ongoing modernisation efforts. He highlighted developments in technology, training, and what the PAF describes as multi-domain capabilities.
He also referred to the long-standing religious and historical links between Pakistan and Libya, and said Pakistan remained committed to expanding professional cooperation with the Libyan Air Force.
Discussions included the possibility of joint training programmes, military exercises, and professional exchanges, which both sides described as areas of shared interest.
Briefing on local defence initiatives
The Libyan Commander was also briefed on Pakistan’s defence production and innovation efforts, including initiatives under the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park. Officials outlined efforts to promote local manufacturing, research, and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Lieutenant General Haftar praised the professionalism of PAF personnel and expressed interest in learning more about Pakistan’s training and capacity-building programmes.
CDF meets IMCTC’s secretary general
Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary General of the IMCTC, a senior official from the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), has also held talks with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, on Monday.
According to an official statement, the meeting covered issues of mutual interest, with particular attention to security challenges facing the region. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together against terrorism and extremism.
