A high-level consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the second round of Iran–US talks, during which the commitment to ensuring the holding of the talks was reiterated.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials.

The Interior Minister briefed the Prime Minister following his meetings with the American and Iranian ambassadors. Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating the Iran–US talks was reaffirmed, and it was agreed to continue contacts to ensure Iran’s participation.

It is worth mentioning here that the second round of Iran–US talks is likely to be held in Islamabad tomorrow. Despite the hardline positions of the parties involved, Pakistan’s efforts are continuing. The country’s leadership is in immediate contact with the relevant parties in response to every new development. While hope remains, no definitive timeline for a final agreement can be given at this stage.

The Federal Interior Minister also held separate meetings with the American and Iranian ambassadors, during which he briefed them on security arrangements for the second round of talks and appreciated their cooperation, while commending Pakistan’s sincere role in promoting peace.
