‘Living in Karachi is like living in Paris,’ says Sharmila Faruqui

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqui says that living in Karachi is like living in Paris when talking on a sports entertainment show aired on a private television (TV) channel.

Recently, the PPP leader participated in a show on a private TV channel in which the host asked her interesting questions during a segment.

The segment was to fill in the blanks, the host asked her, ‘Living in Karachi is like dash ______’

In response, Sharmila Faruqui thought for a few moments and then responded, ‘Living in Karachi is like living in Paris’.

‘Look, where your home and country are, that is your identity. So, wherever you live, there is paradise,’ she added.

She said that in Karachi, they build roads in the site area. However, the rains in Karachi are such that the roads get damaged again.

Hearing the PPP leader’s answer, the former cricketers and other personalities present there applauded and smiled at the same time.

Talking about other topics on the show, she discussed her dynamic with her husband. ‘ I think that my husband is extra smart and I am super smart, but mostly my husband’s is the way to go,’ she said.

In response to a similar question, Sharmila Faruqui said, “I can quit politics, but I can’t quit watching dramas. I watch dramas with great passion.”

The PP leader said that my favourite actress is Darfashan Saleem because she is a very good actress.

“Mera Lyari” set for screening

Actress Ayesha Omar’s film “Mera Lyari” has been included in the 28th edition of the UK Asian Film Festival. It will be screened on May 2, 2026.

The film’s story focuses on Lyari’s sports culture, local civilisation, and women’s empowerment.

The film was initially planned to be released under the name “Behnaz.” But after the Indian propaganda film “Dhurandhar” was released, its name was changed to “Mera Lyari.” It has remained in the news since then.
