Loudspeaker sales of fruits, vegetables now prohibited

The sale of goods using loudspeakers on streets has been banned, and authorities have been ordered to register cases against those selling vegetables and fruits through loudspeakers.

According to details, a case against vendors using loudspeakers to sell vegetables and fruits was heard in the Rawalpindi trial court on Monday.

The petitioner stated that hawkers sell goods by installing loudspeakers in the streets from early morning until late at night, despite the government’s ban on their use.

Shopkeepers using loudspeakers throughout the day and late at night cause disturbances, leading to poor sleep and health issues for residents, he added in the petition.

The petitioner further informed the court that hawkers sell goods using loudspeakers in the streets from morning until late at night, despite the government’s ban on loudspeakers. Citizens have complained that this noise affects their sleep, health, and peace of mind.

Additional Sessions Judge Maqsood Qureshi, while accepting the petition filed by Anwar Dar, banned the sale of goods via loudspeakers on streets and ordered the registration of cases against those violating the ban. The court clearly stated that selling goods with the use of loudspeakers in the streets is prohibited, and legal action will be taken against violators.

This decision is welcomed by citizens, as it will not only reduce noise but also enhance peace and security in urban life.

It is worth noting that a few months ago, a case was registered against a vegetable vendor for violating the Loudspeaker Act. In that case, the vendor had installed a loudspeaker on his vehicle to sell vegetables, with the sound audible from a distance. The police arrested the vendor and registered a case under the Sound System Act.
