Bus on M-2 motorway catches fire: major tragedy averted

A bus travelling from Islamabad to Lahore caught fire on the M-2 South Motorway near Sial Mor on Wednesday.

The fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit at the rear of the vehicle, was quickly brought under control by authorities.

Bus crew evacuated safely

At the time of the incident, the bus was not carrying any passengers. Only the crew was on board, and they were safely evacuated thanks to the prompt response of the Motorway Police.

The officers reached the scene soon after being informed and ensured the safety of the crew before taking further action to manage the fire.

Fire neutralised

To prevent any further damage, the Motorway Police coordinated with the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and used water bowsers to extinguish the flames.

Traffic was also managed by setting up cones and warning boards to avoid accidents in the area.

Officials confirmed that the fire was fully controlled and no injuries were reported.

Bus owner praising Motorway police

The bus owner acknowledged the professionalism of the Motorway Police, stating that their swift action saved lives and limited the damage to the vehicle.

Authorities have advised motorists to remain vigilant while travelling and to report any incidents promptly to ensure safety on the motorway.

Motorways closed due to fog

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has closed several major motorways in Punjab due to dense fog.

The motorways closed for the traffic due to fog are as follows.

According to the post on X, the NHMP mentioned the closure of the following motorways: Faizpur-Rajana Motorway (M-3) has been closed because of poor visibility.

The Motorway (M2) has also been shut from Thokar Niaz Baig to Kot Momin.

M-4 is closed for traffic between Pindi Bhattian and Faisalabad.

The motorway M-11 will remain closed for vehicles from Lahore to Sambrial.
