Muhamad Mahmood Alam popularly known as MM Alam is a 1965 Pakistani war hero. His 13th death anniversary is being observed today on March 18, 2026.
Due to his exceptional skills he was also nicknamed as Peanut Alam and Little Dragon. He was a Pakistani war hero, flying ace and a former one-rank star officer in the Pakistan Air Force.
For Pakistan MM Alam is considered one of Pakistan’s greatest war heroes. Especially for his remarkable show of brilliance in the 1965 Pak-India war when he was posted in Sargodha.
During the 1965 war he was involved in multiple dog fights while flying his F-86 Sabre Fighter. He was able to down nine Indian Hawker Hunter fighters in the aerial fighting and damaged two others.

On September 7, 1965 during a mission MM Alam downed five Indian aircrafts in less than a minute with 4 of them in 30 seconds.
This feat was never seen before and he established a World Record, he downed a total of nine aircrafts in the war.
Alam was born into a well-educated family in Calcutta, British India on July 6, 1935. He was the eldest of the 11 siblings.
After the partition the family migrated from Calcutta to eastern Bengal which became East Pakistan after the independence of Pakistan in 1947.
In 1952 he joined RPAF (now PAF). He was commissioned on October 2, 1953.
After the secession of East Pakistan in 1971 his family moved to East Pakistan.
He retired from PAF as an Air commodore in 1982 and took up residence in Karachi. MM Alam died in Karachi on March 18, 2013 at the age of 77.
