BISP funds

The Punjab government has announced an increase in the quarterly stipend under the Benazir Kafaalat Program, which operates under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

According to an official statement, the quarterly payment for eligible women has been increased from Rs13,500 to Rs14,500 during the current cycle, benefiting millions of registered women throughout the province.

It may be recalled that last year the government had also increased the quarterly assistance by Rs2,000, taking the amount up from Rs10,500 to Rs13,500.

Officials explained that the latest increase aims to ease the financial burden on deserving women amid rising inflation and support their household expenses.

In a separate development, under the government’s women empowerment and financial assistance initiative, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is issuing free SIM cards to registered women.

According to the official announcement, women registered with BISP should visit their nearest BISP office or camp site to obtain the free SIM and to open a Social Protection Wallet.

The statement further clarified that only women registered in the program will be provided free SIM cards after biometric verification. The BISP Social Protection Wallet will be opened on the same SIM.

In the future, all BISP installments, stipends, and financial assistance will be transferred through this wallet.

However, the provided SIM is not just an ordinary SIM card. It serves as a digital wallet for women, and its protection is extremely important.

The BISP has also launched the Benazir Nashonuma Programme to improve the health of women and young children.
