Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai said while speaking to a journalist that she is happy about the Basant 2026 happening in Lahore. She remarked that these types of events should happen in Pakistan.
Malala Yousafzai also said that her husband is from Lahore, and we are planning to visit Lahore next year to celebrate Basant. She further added that her husband was very excited about the Basant festival 2026 in Lahore.
Malala Yousafzai also praised the Punjab government for announcing Basant 2026 after almost 25 years.
At the same time, Malala Yousafzai condemned the suicide attack at Khadijah-tul-Kubra mosque in Tarlai, Islamabad. She said that the suicide attack in the Islamabad mosque is an attack on humanity.
Malala Yousafzai confirmed that the suicide attacker blasted himself during Friday prayers.
However, the defence minister Khawaja Asif said that the suicide attack in Islamabad mosque happened after the collusion of Afghanistan and India.
The intelligence sources confirmed that India funded Fitna-al-Khawarij to attack a mosque in the federal capital.
Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, confirmed that the suicide attacker was not from Afghanistan, but he travelled to Afghanistan several times.
Khawaja Asif wrote on X, “security guards at the site of the incident had challenged the attacker, and in response, he opened fire.” “He then blew himself up, standing in the last row of worshippers,” he said.
The defence minister further said that the suicide attacker’s family is also very extremist.
On the other hand, the Punjab government cancelled all celebrations today in the entire Lahore. Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz wrote on X, “In the wake of the Islamabad tragedy, I am cancelling all my Basant-related activities that were scheduled for tomorrow. The mega Basant show at the Liberty Square also been cancelled. P.S: It is imperative that the nation remains united against the Khwarji menace and their ‘sympathisers’, shows them no mercy, and stands shoulder to shoulder with our Armed Forces in defence of the country. Pakistan Zindabad”
