Malir Jailbreak: 37 prisoners are still missing after six months

Malir Jail

Six months after a major jailbreak at Malir Jail, authorities have yet to trace 37 escaped prisoners, leaving their whereabouts unknown.

The fugitives include inmates involved in serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. Their continued escape has raised serious questions about the performance of the Sindh Police and is being widely seen as a major failure by law enforcement.

Among the missing prisoners are Ali Shah, also known as Shahid, and Milhar, both of whom were jailed in murder cases. In addition, eight other fugitives were facing charges related to robbery, attempted murder, and armed encounters with police.

Of the 224 prisoners who escaped during the jailbreak, police have rearrested 187 so far. However, despite the passage of six months, authorities have failed to track down the remaining 37 inmates.
