PM Shehbaz at US-Iran negotiations

The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, while responding to the Canadian PM, highlighted that the US-Iran negotiations are an important step towards peace.

He also assured him that Pakistan will continue with its efforts to urge both parties to maintain the ceasefire and make meaningful progress towards de-escalation and regional peace and stability.

While concluding their call, both of the leaders agreed upon close coordination in the future.

Iran blockade

The peace talks were being conducted by Pakistan between the US and Iran on April 11-12.

The talks were left undecided, and both state delegations left after putting their conditions in front of each other.

The US Vice President, JD Vance, on April 12, announced that the negotiations with Iran have failed.

As a result of this, the US President, Donald Trump, ordered the US Navy to block the Strait of Hormuz.

He further said that the US Navy will keep the Strait closed, and will not let pass any ship that has paid tolls to Iran.

Trump further warned Iran that if any of their ship tried to approach the blockade, it will be ‘eliminated’ immediately.
