A grand ceremony commemorating the first anniversary of the Marka-e-Haq victory has commenced at GHQ in Rawalpindi, with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir set to address the event today.
The event features the country’s top military leadership, with Field Marshal Asim Munir attending as the chief guest. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf are also participating in the ceremony.
The programme includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the martyrs’ monument and a tri-services salute to honour the sacrifices made during Marka-e-Haq.
A special ceremony marking the success of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos began with floral wreath-laying at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada by the chiefs of the armed forces to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country. Smartly turned-out contingents from the Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a formal salute during the ceremony.
The event commenced with the recitation of a Quranic verse, from which the name “Bunyan-un-Marsoos” for Pakistan’s retaliatory operation was derived.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir said the day was a moment of national pride, adding that the success reflected Pakistan’s strength, unity, and resilience in the face of challenges.
He said Marka-e-Haq was not merely a conflict between two countries but a decisive battle between “two ideologies,” in which truth ultimately prevailed. He added that the confrontation from May 6–10 was an unsuccessful attempt by the enemy to test Pakistan’s resolve and national dignity.
Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan, along with its people and armed forces, achieved an “unparalleled victory” in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos with divine blessings. He stated that falsehood was defeated, while Pakistan emerged victorious through unity, determination, and professional excellence.
He further said India had sought military aggression and diplomatic isolation of Pakistan, but its ambitions exceeded its actual capacity. He stressed that Pakistan would never allow such designs to succeed.
The army chief said the enemy had forgotten that Pakistan’s armed forces had never bowed to power in the past and would not do so in the future. He also paid tribute to the women, elderly, and children martyred during the conflict, calling their sacrifices sacred.
Field Marshal Munir said the nation and leadership were united on the principle that no compromise would be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and dignity. He noted that the entire nation stood like a “solid wall” in defence of the homeland.
He praised the armed forces for setting an example in modern warfare, stating that Pakistani “Shaheens” shot down enemy aircraft and destroyed key installations. He said India suffered heavy human and material losses, which it would continue to bear.
He further stated that Pakistan’s strategic missile systems successfully targeted more than 26 enemy installations, adding that the country’s defence was now “fully impregnable.”
Field Marshal Asim Munir issued a strong warning, saying any future hostile action against Pakistan would have serious, far-reaching, and painful consequences.
