Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a fast-track initiative to address illegal occupation of land and properties across the province, a problem she called “a nightmare for the people for decades.”

In posts on X and Facebook the chief minister assured citizens that if anyone’s land or property has been illegally occupied, they can submit an application to their respective Deputy Commissioner (DC) office, and “the matter would be decided in days.”

Maryam Nawaz has ordered all Assistant Commissioners in every tehsil to receive applications related to land grabbing and expressed displeasure over delays in cases from Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad and other districts.

She directed that all DCs must hold daily meetings to review progress on these cases.

According to officials, 2,919 applications against illegal occupation have been received over the past three weeks, out of which 499 cases have been resolved by the District Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs).

The chief minister has also instructed for the complete enforcement of Ordinance 2025, adding that DCs will chair daily DRC meetings while she will personally monitor implementation.

To ensure public awareness of the campaign against illegal occupation, the Punjab government has decided that announcements will be made in mosques so that affected people can approach the administration.

Maryam Nawaz has further directed that widows’ property cases be given special priority, stressing that the government wants to provide “immediate relief to the masses” by resolving land grabbing complaints quickly and transparently.
