The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has ordered the authorities to ensure foolproof security during Eid-ul-Azha.
In a meeting held on May 24, chaired by the Punjab CM, the Punjab police and related authorities were instructed to tighten the security and public safety measures for Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Azha, with officials directed to strengthen monitoring and enforcement across the province.
CM Maryam Nawaz also instructed law enforcement agencies and district administrations to implement security protocols at Eid gatherings and other public locations.
According to the officials, metal detectors and walk-through gates will be installed at major prayer venues, while additional police personnel, including female officers, will be deployed in markets on Chand Raat.
The chief minister also directed local administrators to engage with religious leaders and brief them on the government’s security and cleanliness plans for the holiday period.
Authorities said special attention would be given to sensitive areas, with real-time monitoring through the Safe City system to support security operations.
Officials have also been instructed to enforce restrictions on camps set up for collecting animal hides by banned organisations.

Senior police officers will oversee compliance with the directives in their respective districts.
The provincial government said action would be taken against the display of weapons, aerial firing, and dangerous activities such as one-wheeling during the Eid holidays.
During a briefing on security preparations, officials said Eid prayers are expected to be held at more than 38,507 locations across Punjab.
Authorities also reminded the public that roasting animal heads and trotters in public places remains prohibited under Section 144.
Action will also be taken against those who dispose of animal waste in drains, streets, or other public areas.
The measures are part of wider efforts by the provincial government to manage security, traffic, and sanitation during one of the busiest religious holidays of the year.
