Maryam Nawaz gets relief in Sugar Mills case

An accountability court in Lahore on Monday approved the closure of the investigation in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, who currently serves as the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Accountability court judge Rana Arif announced the decision after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a petition requesting the court to close the investigation.

The prosecutor from the National Accountability Bureau told the court that investigators found no evidence of corruption against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

After hearing the arguments, the court approved the request and ordered authorities to close the investigation into the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case against the senior leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
