Web desk: Maryum Nawaz, who is also the current CM of Punjab, is celebrating her 33rd wedding anniversary today with her husband, Muhammad Safdar Awan.
She is widely known for her developmental projects in the province. Known as the ‘iron lady of Pakistan,’ she is the first woman to hold the position of chief minister in Pakistan.
Interestingly, the wedding date of Maryum Nawaz and Muhammad Safdar coincides with the birthday of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Additionally, with her father as well.

Maryum Nawaz is the niece of the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. And she is the daughter of the former prime minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Maryum Nawaz got married to Safdar when she was just 19 years old. She left her medical studies at the time of marrige, as per the reports.


The couple has three children: Mahnoor, Junaid, and Mahrunissa.

Now, after decades of marriage, Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is reportedly set to marry Shanza Sheikh, granddaughter of senior political figure Sheikh Rohail Asghar. It is expected to be in a ceremony scheduled for January 16 to 18, 2026.
Preparations for Junaid’s wedding are reportedly in full swing, with family members closely involved in the arrangements.
According to reports, the marriage proposal was finalised with the help of Maryam Nawaz’s eldest daughter and her husband, Raheel Munir.
Maryam Nawaz continues to balance her political career with her family life. Serving the people of her country and caring for her family.
This will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. He was previously married to Ayesha Saif, daughter of former NAB chairman and Qatar-based businessman Saifur Rahman Khan.
