Pakistani actress Mashal Khan recently shared a heartfelt message on the Karbala battle during Muharram.
In an Instagram post, the actress said, “I wrote something for Karbala since many people ask why do we cry for Karbala. But I want to ask, Do you even know who Imam Hussain (A.S) was? The Imam who gave up his home, companions, brothers, nephews and even his baby who was only six months old, but never gave up his conscience.”
She added, “Then tell me, do you remember these names? Mawla Abbas, Hazrat Qasim, Hazrat Aun, Hazrat Muhammad, Hazrat Ali Asghar, Bibi Sakina, Bibi Zainab, Hazrat Muslim bin Awsaja, Hazrat Habib ibn Muzahir, Hazrat Hurr.”
“Mawla Abbas’ flag only fell when his arms were cut with his final words echoing, “O Hussain, my brother, my Imam.”
She continued, “Hazrat Aun and Hazrat Muhammad were two brothers who were taught to fight by Mawla Abbas. Fighting against them together was so difficult for the enemy that they decided to separate them. They were the beloved children of Bibi Zainab, and a mother sent both her sons in the way of Allah, but never once said to her brother, “Please save my children.”
“Hazrat Muslim bin Awsaja and Hazrat Habib ibn Muzahir were among those ages had passed, but when Imam Hussain called out, though their bodies were old, their hearts were young. Hazrat Hurr was blocking the way of Imam Hussain (A.S.), but one decision changed his name forever. Because Karbala teaches us that a person’s past is not their identity, their final choice.”
Mashal Khan shared, “If you want to understand Karbala, understand Bibi Zainab. In the morning, she had brothers, nephews, sons, and companions. By evening, everyone was sleeping on the sand. Yet, when she was asked, she said, “I saw nothing but beauty from Allah.”
She ended her message by saying, “The story of Karbala teaches us the importance of standing with the truth.”
