Web desk: A massive blast struck the Nowgam police station in Srinagar, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), according to reports.
Several ambulances were seen rushing to the site. The explosion was reportedly heard as far away as Pulwama and Awantipora.
According to initial reports, the blast happened inside the Nowgam Police Station while experimenting with ammonium nitrate.
Aditya Raj Kaul reports that Jammu and Kashmir police officials have confirmed that the massive blast at Nowgam Police Station around 11:20 pm occurred while an FSL team, along with police personnel and a tehsildar, were inspecting a large quantity of ammonium nitrate explosives that had been previously confiscated.
Authorities have reported casualties in the incident but clarified that it was not a terror attack. Police described the explosion as a very unfortunate incident.

Some analysts suggest that authorities are cautious about labelling the Nowgam blast as a terror attack, fearing it could escalate tensions with Pakistan.
Indian media and officials appear wary of framing it as terrorism, mindful of the potential political and military consequences of a strong response, analysts say.
