Matric exams e-marking

KARACHI: Sindh’s education boards have announced the implementation of e-marking for matric exams starting in 2026.

The process for submitting exam forms for classes 9 and 10 across Sindh boards is expected to commence soon. At the same time, officials have revealed upcoming reforms to the exam system in 2026.

As part of the new initiative, two to three papers from the annual exams for classes 9 and 10 will be evaluated using the e-marking system.

The Federal Board has supplied e-marking software to the Department of Universities and Boards to support this system.

Furthermore, two to three papers from the intermediate annual examinations will also be assessed via e-marking next year in all Sindh boards.

Chairpersons of the education boards have lauded the Federal Board’s provision of technology and software as a major advancement in promoting transparency within the examination process.

Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Board Coordination Committee (IBCC) in Islamabad, stated that both the conduct of examinations and the evaluation of answer scripts will be managed through an IT-based e-marking system.

In a separate development, earlier, the Punjab Education Department announced a major change to its academic calendar bringing relief to 2.5 million students.

The Matric and Intermediate Board Exams for 2026 will now be held after Eid-ul-Fitr. This decision, approved by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, gives much-needed relief and extra preparation time to students across the province.
