A ceremonial guard-changing parade was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, on the occasion of 79th Independence Day.
At the ceremony, Cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy assumed the duties of honour guards at the mausoleum. Every year on August 14, Pakistan Naval Academy cadets are given this responsibility as part of the Independence Day observances.
The honour guard contingent at the Quaid’s mausoleum comprises two units, Pakistan Navy sailors and the other of Pakistan Naval Academy cadets.
Officials pay tribute on the occasion
Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair, attended the guard deployment ceremony as chief guest, laying a floral wreath at the mausoleum and offering Fatiha.
Additionally, Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also visited the mausoleum to pay their respects. The Sindh governor on this occasion spoke to the media stating that Pakistan had become invincible from a defence standpoint, adding that when India challenged the country, its armed forces, under the Field Marshal’s leadership. It delivered a strong response that earned the world’s recognition for the country.
CM Murad Ali Shah’s remarks on the occasion
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the British government had conspired against Sindh province, but the effort had failed. He recalled that a resolution was presented in Karachi, Sindh, on October 10, 1938, adding that Sindh took pride in the role it played in the creation of Pakistan.
Previously, Authorities have decided to reopen Mazar-e-Quaid to the public after it remained closed for three years due to security concerns. The decision was announced during a meeting of the Senate Subcommittee on National Heritage and Culture, chaired by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi.
The committee reviewed administrative, security, development, cleanliness and financial matters related to Mazar-e-Quaid and its surrounding areas.
