Private medical and dental colleges have made an announcement about a last round admission to fill the remaining seats that are still vacant before the new academic session.
The admissions committee has changed the schedule letting the MBBS aspirants to submit their applications till February 28 while that for BDS programs has been fixed till March 15.
Authorities insisted that this extension is final and would not be extended under any situation. After the announced dates the admission process for unsold locations will be closed for good.
Officials said the decision was taken in order to prevent any wastage of available seats and to ensure academic activities were to begin without any further disruption.
Prospective students have been advised to submit documents and other required tasks within the period as applications sent after the stipulated deadlines will not be considered.
PMDC takes strict action against charging extra fees
In a related move, previously, the PMDC issued show cause notices to 12 medical and dental colleges for charging excessive or unauthorised fees.
The regulatory body has further warned that strict action will be taken against colleges collecting fees beyond the approved limits.
It was also announced that any excess fees collected have to either be refunded to students or adjusted in the next academic session.
Students have also been advised not to pay any additional or unauthorised fees.
Colleges claiming higher operational costs have to provide proper justification, and any proposed fee increase has to go through formal evaluation and approval before it is implemented.
The PMDC also clarified that the maximum permissible fee may reach up to Rs2.5 million or 25 lakh rupees.
Additionally, prior approval is mandatory for any fee revision. Legal cases filed by some institutions regarding fee disputes are still ongoing, according to the council.
