The Adiala Jail administration has formally presented the medical report of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi.
According to report, Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Jamaat Ali Shah appeared before the court and handed over the medical assessment as directed. The report confirmed that the PTI founder’s medical examination was carried out strictly in line with the Pakistan Prison Rules.
The jail authorities informed the court that both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi are being provided with complete medical care and treatment facilities as per established jail regulations.
It is pertinent to note that the ATC had issued a contempt of court notice to the jail superintendent two days earlier over the non-submission of the medical report. The court had sought the report from the Adiala Jail authorities during today’s proceedings.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, was treated for an eye condition and discharged, PIMS Executive Director Rana Imran Sikander confirmed in a video message.
Rana Imran Sikander said that Imran Khan was examined after complaining of reduced vision in his right eye at Adiala Jail, where doctors diagnosed central retinal vein occlusion.
PIMS Executive Director, Rana Sikander, remarked that, “Accordingly, Mr Niazi was brought to PIMS on the night of last Saturday/Sunday for advised procedure. At the hospital, the treatment plan i.e. need for administering anti-VEGF intra-vitreal injection, was explained in full to the patient. Accordingly, an informed consent was obtained from the patient, prior to the procedure.”
A senior ophthalmologist at PIMS Islamabad administered an anti-VEGF injection with the patient’s consent.
After that, hospital officials confirmed that Imran Khan’s condition was stable following the treatment.
Rana Sikander concluded that Imran Khan was discharged after treatment and follow-up instructions.
PIMS directors concluded, “The procedure was carried out in the operating theatre under standard sterile protocols and monitoring. It was completed smoothly in approximately 20 minutes. During the treatment, the patient remained vitally stable and was discharged with routine post-procedure care instructions, follow-up advice and the documents.”
