The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has directed all Category I and Category II-A healthcare establishments across the province to ensure that medical and support staff wear prescribed uniforms while on duty.

According to a directive issued by the commission, all concerned healthcare facilities have been given 30 days to implement the instructions.

The directions, issued by PHC Chief Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Saqib Aziz, make it mandatory for sanitation staff to wear standard uniforms during duty hours. Doctors must also be provided with white coats or overalls to ensure professional identification, hygiene and discipline.

The directive further instructs healthcare facilities to provide specialised kits, where required, to staff working in operation theatres and rooms designated for specialised medical procedures.

It also emphasises introducing standardised uniforms for paramedical staff and ensuring strict compliance with the instructions.

The commission said the measures were aimed at improving professional standards, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring discipline across healthcare facilities in Punjab.
