Pakistani actress Meera Jee has reportedly been deported from Canada by immigration officials.

According to reports, Meera, who holds a US green card, was travelling from New York to Canada to attend a show and promote her film when she was stopped by immigration officials at the Niagara border.

A day earlier, the actress posted a video of herself at John F. Kennedy International Airport, writing “Enjoying coffee with tears, travelling to Buffalo”.

She was questioned for several hours before being sent back to the United States.

It is pertinent to mention that Meera has already been banned by the UK for 10 years.

Meera appeals for UK visa to visit sister battling late-stage cancer

Earlier, she made an urgent appeal to British and Pakistani officials to help secure a UK visa so she can travel to London to visit her critically ill sister, Shaista Abbas, who is suffering from advanced-stage cancer.

Earlier, in a casual conversation, Shaista Abbas revealed that Meera had taken care of her and her brother when they were young. She said she supported them financially, sent them to the UK for their studies, and even bought a home for them.

Recalling the ban that prevented Meera from travelling to the UK, her sister said, “She made a spelling mistake in an application. It was a very minor error, but the UK government took it very seriously, which eventually led to her being banned.”
