The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted more rain over the next two days as wet weather continues to persist in several parts of the province of Punjab.
Rain, coupled with thunder and heavy winds, continued for another day in different parts, including the capital of Punjab, Lahore. The weather was good as showers started overnight hours and continued in the morning with gusty winds to cool temperatures from the previous day. Wind speed in Lahore was measured at around 14 kilometres per hour, and the feeling of coolness was increased in the city.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds was recorded in several districts of Punjab overnight. In Gujarat, intermittent rainfall flooded several areas as water accumulated in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, there were heavy rains at Sargodha along with strong winds and hailstorm. Rain was also reported from Daska, Wazirabad, Mianwali, Phalia, Khanqah Dogran, Narowal and Ferozewala, and the temperature also dropped significantly.
In the north, light snowfall was reported from the upper and tourist places of Mansehra, including Shogran and Naran. The rainfall in plain areas has also increased the cold weather.
Could black rain happen in Pakistan after Iran attacks?
Previously, PMD putting rumours to rest of possible ‘black rain’ in Pakistan clarified that there is no possibility of such a phenomena in Pakistan.
After the recent severe bombing on oil installations in Iran, unusual pollution has been created in the environment, while in other countries of the region, concerns are also being expressed regarding possible weather effects.
According to experts, due to this situation, there is a possibility that polluted particles may reach some areas of Pakistan through western winds.
The Meteorological Department says that western winds coming from the direction of Iran will enter Pakistan in the next few days, carrying with them the polluted particles present in the atmosphere.
