Web desk: Meta has officially introduced Meta AI in Urdu in Pakistan. It is now allowing users to interact with the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant in both Urdu and English.
The announcement was made during an event titled “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation.”
It was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
At the event, Meta also unveiled several initiatives aimed at accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation.
These include an AI education program and a government digital transformation pilot.
These are both designed to integrate artificial intelligence into public sector operations and academic syllabi.
Meta also introduced a local edition of its guidance document titled “Transforming Public Sector Innovation in Asia Pacific with Llama,” developed in partnership with Deloitte.
The guide is supported by the MoITT. It explains how Meta’s open-source AI model, Llama, can improve government efficiency, enhance public service delivery, and strengthen data sovereignty.
AI Literacy Program for Educators in Pakistan
Meta launched the AI Literacy Program in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), MoITT, and atomcamp.
Under this initiative, 350 non-computer science university teachers across Pakistan will receive training in basic AI concepts and tools.
The goal is to help educators prepare students for the technological demands of the modern era.
Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025
Meta also launched the Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025 program.
It aims to provide Meta’s technologies, solutions, and global best practices to Pakistani government agencies.
Through GDTX, public and private sector experts will collaborate to share strategies and insights that can accelerate Pakistan’s transition toward a more digitally empowered government system.
Speaking at the event, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said, “Under the Prime Minister’s Digital Nation Vision, Pakistan is moving towards a future where technology will empower every citizen.”
She added, “Our partnership with Meta reflects the same commitment that is promoting artificial intelligence education, digital transformation and innovation in government and educational institutions.”
Meta AI in Urdu for Pakistani Users
She further added that the inclusion of the Urdu language in Meta AI is a major milestone that will make technology more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that “no one is left behind in this journey of digital transformation.”
Sarem Aziz, Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia at Meta, said, “We want to help the public sector and educational institutions in digital transformation through the effective use of AI.”
He added, “We are also happy that Meta AI is now available in Urdu, which will provide new opportunities for the local community to connect with technology in their own language.”
