Mild earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi

Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad and Rawalpindi around 2:15 am on Friday, January 9, causing brief panic among residents. People reported shaking of buildings for a few seconds, prompting some to step outside their homes as a precaution.

According to preliminary information, the tremors were likely linked to a magnitude 5.3 earthquake that struck Tajikistan on Thursday evening. Multiple social media users across the region reported feeling the quake; however, no damage to property or loss of life has been reported so far. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
