A new four-member investigation team has been formed to investigate the death of young businessman Mir Raza, according to reports today. The action was taken after his parents expressed a lack of confidence in the previous team.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho said that the new team will be headed by DIG Crime Branch Amir Farooqi. SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur, SP Investigation Korangi Qais Khan and SP Investigation Central Anam are also part of the team.
The IG said the previous investigation team was removed after the initial medical report was received. He said a transparent investigation would be conducted into the case.
Earlier, police officials said SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh, SSP SIU Samiullah Soomro and other officers had been removed from the investigation.
Mir Raza medical report
Additionally, the preliminary medical report based on samples obtained after the exhumation of Mir Raza’s body reportedly found that he had been shot from the back.
Signs of physical violence were also found on his body, along with suspected fractures to his right thigh and jaw. Blood stains were also found in tissues in the lower part of his body.
The preliminary findings from the second post-mortem have also raised questions about the earlier account of his death.
Mir Raza’s father’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, said the findings showed that the bullet had entered from the back rather than the chest.
He also claimed that the findings indicated that Mir Raza had been murdered and had not died by suicide.
Nasir also alleged that police officers had pressured Mir Raza’s parents and repeatedly told them that their son had died by suicide.
He further claimed that two other bodies had previously been found at the same location in Gulistan-e-Johar where Mir Raza’s body was discovered. The investigation is now being conducted by the newly formed team.
