Mixed fortunes for Pakistan as Babar, Saim gain in ICC T-20I rankings

Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam, all-rounder Saim Ayub and spinner Abrar Ahmed have made gains in the latest ICC T20I rankings, while several other national players have slipped down the list.

In the T20I batting rankings, opener Sahibzada Farhan has held on to his fifth position with 763 rating points, continuing his impressive run. Former captain Babar Azam has climbed one place to 31st, while Saim Ayub has moved up two spots to 35th. Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha remains unchanged at 41st in the rankings.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who is currently out of Pakistan’s T20I setup, has dropped two places to 61st with 494 points. Opener Fakhar Zaman has slipped three places to 69th, middle-order batsman Hasan Nawaz has dropped one place to 84th, and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris has fallen three places to 95th with 390 points.

At the top of the T20I batting rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma holds the number-one spot, followed by England’s Phil Salt in second place, while another Indian batter, Tilak Verma, is third.

In the bowling rankings, spinner Abrar Ahmed has moved up one place to joint fourth, alongside New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, with Sri Lanka’s Vinod Hasaranga also sharing the position. India’s Varun Chakravarthy remains the top-ranked T20I bowler, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is second.

Among other Pakistani bowlers, spinner Mohammad Nawaz has dropped two places to 15th, while fast bowler Salman Mirza has climbed one spot to 18th with 618 points. Pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi remains at 24th, spinner Sufyan Muqeem has moved up one place to 33rd, Saim Ayub has climbed one spot to 54th, and Haris Rauf has slipped one place to 57th.

Meanwhile, fast bowlers Abbas Afridi and Faheem Ashraf have moved up two and three places to 74th and 76th, respectively.
