LUCANI: In a heartening incident, football manager Mladen Zizovic died following heart attack during live match.
The horrific event occurred during a Serbian SuperLiga match, where a viral video show the 44-year-old manager guiding player moments before collapsing during the match.
The ambulance rushed the manager to the hospital, but despite all efforts, news of his death was confirmed about twenty minutes later.
Following the tragic news, referee Jovan Šegrt decided to end the match early. Players from both teams were visibly shocked, many broke down in tears on the field.
Sean Williams career end
In a separate incident on the cricket field, Zimbabwe’s former captain Sean Williams cricketing career ended as he entered into drug rehabilitation programme.
As per details, Williams who is “one of the country’s finest ever cricketers, will no longer be considered for selection after he entered into a drug rehabilitation programme,” Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The 39 year-old who kicked off his cricketing career in 2005 and is one of Zimbabwe’s most experienced players, will not have his ZC contract extended beyond its expiry in December this year.
Williams withdrew from the national side that took part in the recent T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025 in Harare, one of many tournaments he has skipped over the years.
“During an internal investigation to understand the reasons for his unavailability, Williams disclosed that he has been struggling with drug addiction and has voluntarily entered rehabilitation,” ZC said.
“A review of Williams’ record indicates a history of disciplinary issues and repeated unavailability, which has impacted team preparations and performance.
“While ZC commends him for seeking rehabilitation… after careful consideration, ZC has concluded that Williams will no longer be considered for national selection.”
