Monthly wage set for workers employed in private institutions

Good news for workers: Minimum wage increased by 7.5%

The Sindh government has fixed monthly wages for workers employed in private institutions. The monthly salary for semi-skilled workers has been set at Rs44,484, while the salary for skilled workers has been fixed at Rs53,350. In addition, workers with higher levels of experience will receive a monthly wage of Rs55,626.

The monthly wages have been fixed for workers employed in 60 different private institutions. The Labour and Human Resources Department has issued a notification in this regard.

Earlier, the Sindh Cabinet increased the provincial minimum wage by 7.5 per cent. It also approved several other decisions related to public services and development.

The decisions were made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM’s House.

Provincial ministers, advisers, senior officials and the chief secretary attended the meeting.

500,000 metric tonnes of wheat to be imported

The cabinet approved the import of 500,000 metric tonnes of wheat through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to meet the expected shortage during the 2026-27 year.

Officials told the cabinet that Sindh could face a wheat shortage of about 1.69 million metric tonnes.

The province is expected to have around 4.84 million metric tonnes of wheat while the yearly need is estimated at 6.53 million metric tonnes.

The wheat will be imported under a plan being coordinated by the federal government.

Health budget approved

The cabinet also approved the budget of the People’s Community Health Services Company for the financial year 2026-27. It includes Rs200 million as seed money and a grant of Rs2.723 billion.

Flood housing project expanded

In addition to all this, the cabinet also approved the extension of the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) programme to Gilgit-Baltistan.

Under the project, 196 flood-damaged houses will be rebuilt at an estimated cost of Rs376.3 million.
